"Simplexity" by Richard Shipps, a series of 10 cut paper works

In keeping with Patron's "Simply Perfect" theme, Richard Shipps presents a series of ten cut paper artworks titled "Simplexity" - combining or repeating simple shapes to develop complex results. Each artwork develops from a very simple palette of shapes. By developing variations and patterns within these simple shapes, he creates complexity. Each of the ten artworks is cut from a single sheet of paper. Form and counter-form interact to reveal a whimsical, meditative interplay of shape. Most of the artworks have some sculptural dimensionality, meaning some of the paper shapes are curled or folded, creating an additional interest. These simple forms appear to him through the lens of his life experiences and imagination. Creating each work is an emotional and intellectual voyage of discovery.
